Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii Russian Photo Collection

The Library of Congress purchased Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii's Collection of 2,607 color images taken between 1905 and 1915 which feature the Russian Empire. The photos are stunning as most of us are used to looking at images such as these in black and white. The colors are vividly real and are especially notable when looking at the varied peoples and textiles of Russia before the revolution.
